| AIRPORT AND SEAPORT OPERATIONS The Immigration Division, Ministry of National Security core functions are: (1) To determine admissibility/ inadmissibility of persons seeking entry into Trinidad and Tobago. (2) To facilitate the departure of persons seeking exit from Trinidad and Tobago. (3) To grant clearance to vessels and crew seeking entry into and departure from Trinidad and Tobago. OFFICE OPERATIONS Office Operations include: (1) Issue of travel documents to applicants who qualify to hold such. These travel documents comprise of the following: (a) Trinidad & Tobago Passports (b) Travel Permits (c) Emergency Certificates (2) Issue visas to non-nationals for entry into Trinidad and Tobago. (3) Issue Student Permits to applicants who wish to study in Trinidad & Tobago. (4) Interview persons seeking extension of stay in Trinidad and Tobago and grant extensions on approval of applications. (5) Issue Certificates of Immigration Status to persons who hold Resident Status. (6) Conduct investigations with a view to apprehending illegal immigrants in Trinidad and Tobago. (7) Conduct Special Inquiries to determine immigration status of persons in Trinidad and Tobago. (8) Conduct the process of deportation of illegal persons from Trinidad & Tobago. (9) Collect Government revenue for Immigration services rendered. FOREIGN MISSIONS Immigration Attachés are posted at the following Trinidad & Tobago Foreign Missions: (a) Washington, DC, U.S.A. (b) New York U.S.A. (c) Miami U.S.A. (d) Toronto Canada. (d) London U.K. Immigration Attachés perform the following functions: (1) Issue passports to Trinidad & Tobago citizens. (2) Issue Emergency Certificates to citizens and residents for return to Trinidad & Tobago. (3) Issue Visas to non nationals who wish to enter Trinidad & Tobago. (4) Conduct interviews and submit reports on applications for resident status and citizenship. (5) Conduct interviews of Trinidad and Tobago nationals detained abroad, to determine Trinidad & Tobago citizenship prior to deportation to Trinidad and Tobago. (6) Conduct interviews to determine Trinidad and Tobago citizenship of persons who are distressed or destitute and who are requesting repatriation to Trinidad and Tobago. |
