Resident Status Application

(a) Non-nationals of Trinidad and Tobago who are described in section 6 (1) the Immigration Act may apply to the Minister of National Security for the grant of Resident Status. The following categories of persons may apply for permanent resident status in Trinidad and Tobago:

(i)  Persons in the self-employed, professional or entrepreneurial class who are considered likely to establish themselves successfully in Trinidad and Tobago.

(ii)  A parent or grandparent of a citizen or resident residing in Trinidad and Tobago.

(iii) The legally married spouse of a citizen or resident.

(iv) A former citizen or resident of Trinidad and Tobago.

(b) Persons in special circumstances who, based on humanitarian or compassionate grounds, for example, are deemed fit by the Minister of National Security to enter Trinidad and Tobago.

(c) Application forms are obtained from the Ministry of National Security at no cost.

(d) An application for the grant of resident status is submitted to the Ministry of National Security on the prescribed form 6. Two (2) original forms must be submitted if your application is made locally. For applications submitted from abroad, three (3) original forms must be submitted. All applications are subject to the approval of the Minister.

(e) A Certificate of Registration as a resident (Form 7) is issued on approval of the application.

(f) A person to whom resident status has been granted can lose such status by voluntarily residing outside Trinidad and Tobago for a continuous period of one (1) year.

(g) Any person may apply to the Minister of National Security for the grant of Resident Status.

(h) An application must be made by written request to the Minister of National Security.

Sworn Declarations /Affidavits (where applicable)

Police Certificate Of Character from your country of residence and /or home country

Medical Forms 40 and Form 40A

Certificates or Diplomas of Educational Qualifications

Job Letters

Letters from Schools attended

Bank Statements

Proof of Legal Entry into Trinidad and Tobago

Photos.
